iridian series
fine art photo prints
IRIDIAN collection
These prints were originally made using special processes of alternative printing techniques known as cyanotype (dark blue) and argentotype, sometimes called Van Dyke, (dark brown). They are analogue prints on watercolour fine art papers and exposed to UV light.
The prints were subsequently treated with bleach or hydrogen peroxide to lighten the tones and create other colours. A double coating was made applying, for example, a cyanotype over an argentotype and then reprinting with the same negative. More work was done with bleaches after the second process. No two prints were ever the same and only a few were successful as final images.
These original prints have now been converted to digital files which enables printing with a professional inkjet printer onto 300gsm fine art papers. This keeps the digital prints within the same spirit as the original analogue prints which are offered in numbered limited editions at different sizes.
